sometimes teachers/lovers appear in my dreams
this one is a farmer
s/he takes me to a patch of ground
the deep brown of mud

rich and saturated with water

grainy

gritty

soggy

the root-paths are open to my eyes

wide branching and vociferous

sensual in their reach

fantastically shaped

the plants twist and climb

offering knowledge and healing

in their broad-veined leaves

their essence and juice fill me

but the secret wisdom of the dream

fades into a shadow

of longing
